You should read this. Very important!

The Ten Commandments for stimulating reading in children and teens

1. Let them read and write texts, as they have learned, since they are little.
2. Respect their learning. Read along with them and make comments about what you are reading together.
3.Avoid asking about what they have not understood.
4. Reading and writing different texts is the best way to learn, even making mistakes.
5. Appreciate that, each one, at their own pace and with the possibilities that their experiencies have given them, develop their abilities.
6. Suggest situations in which they need to use the written world.
7. Read different writers and write for specific readers.
8. Silence (not imposed) is an appropriate context for reading.
9. Learning does not begin neither ends at school.
10. Writing since children is a passionate way to become great readers.
